Where can I find a notary public in East Aurora?
Every bank in East Aurora has a notary public. There are also three notary publics located at 571 Main Street in the Village Clerks Office.
When I have a concern that I do not feel is being adequately addressed, how do I go about receiving assistance?
Call the Village Office (652-6000 ext. 3) for any and all matters, and the friendly clerks can direct your call or contact any of your elected officials.
For violations of the Village Code, you can call the Village Code Enforcement Officer, at 652-7591. That number is also useful if you need to inquire on a matter regarding a permit of any sort, or have questions regarding a possible building project.
If you would like to express your concerns in person to the Village Board of Trustees, we welcome your attendance and participation at a Board Meeting. Meetings are held the 3rd Monday of each month at 7:00 pm at Village Hall. In the event of a legal holiday, the meeting is moved to Tuesday @ 7:00 pm.
Water Bills
Water bills are issued quarterly, during the months of March, June, September and December. Bills are due 25 days from the issue date in the net amount. After that date, the gross amount is due and a 10% late fee is assessed. If the bill remains unpaid after 50 days, a service fee of $10.00 is applied and subjects the user to termination of water service. Additional service fees are assessed to the account in the event the account is placed on termination status. Water users are notified via letter of their account status.
Any questions regarding your bill should be directed to our billing department at 716-652-6000, ext. 221.
Payments for Water Bills
The Village Hall is open 24/7 and there is a drop box located in the Village Clerk's office door where payments may be deposited. Payments left in the drop box on the weekend following a given due date will be accepted without penalty on the following Monday or next business day if it is a holiday.
Also note that if payments are made by mail, the payment must be postmarked no later than the due date in order to avoid penalties. We have found that East Aurora mail sometimes takes an indirect route to Rochester, NY before making it to us and if it is postmarked after the due date, penalties are assessed.
Save time, postage and penalties by utilizing the drop box!
How do I check for leaks?
First, before going to bed, make sure there is no water running in your home. Read your water meter– don’t use any water until you re-check your meter the next morning. If the numbers have moved, there is water leaking somewhere. Toilets are the main culprits. Place food coloring or a colored juice in your toilet tank, wait about 20 minutes-if there is colored water in your bowl there is a leak.

The tree in front of my house has lots of dead branches in it. Can you cut it down or trim it?
We can check the tree survey to see what the recommendation is. Contact the DPW Crew Chief Russell Witt (652-6057) to see if the status of the tree has changed since the survey was done. After all information has been analyzed, a determination will be made as to what action should be taken, and someone will contact you.
I want to get a tree through the tree program. How do I get a tree?
Call the Department of Public Works at 652-6057 and put your name on a list of residents interested in getting a tree through the program. You will be contacted for the next round of tree planting (either in the spring or fall).
I hate the tree in front of my house. It's messy, drops lots of leaves, and I want it gone. Can you cut it down?
The Department of Public Works does not cut a tree down because the homeowner does not like it. If the tree is in the "public right of way" and poses a hazard to the public or is causing sewer problems, we will cut the tree down.
The Village removed a dead tree at my neighbors, why not mine?
If a tree is in the Village (public) right-of-way, it is our responsibility to trim or remove. This right-of-way area varies from street to street, and the data is on file at the Department of Public Works. You can contact them at 652-6057
When will you grind the stump out in front of my house?
The Department of Public Works usually grinds stumps in the spring (depending on the weather, etc). We will grind the stump, remove the debris, refill the hole, and then topsoil and seed the area for you.
When will the leaf truck be on my street?
It takes approximately one week for the leaf truck to cover the village. Please rake leaves to the curb, not into the street. Please do not wait until the last week of pickup to rake leaves.

Chapter 223 of the Village Code states that property owners are responsible to maintain and repair sidewalks adjoining their land, and are responsible for removing snow, ice and other obstructions. Following a significant snow storm, when the snow is at least 6” deep, and after we have plowed the streets, we will attempt to clear as many sidewalks as possible as a public service. If we receive notice of a dangerous or hazardous sidewalk, we will contact the property owner to remedy or repair. If nothing is done, we will make the repair and bill the cost back to the property owner.
